Eurodac right to information leaflet translated

Migrants and asylum applicants have the right to get information about why their fingerprints are collected in Eurodac, EU’s IT system for asylum seekers and apprehended migrants. To guide authorities, a joint leaflet on how to understandably explain what Eurodac does is now available in various EU languages.

The leaflet offers guidance to authorities so they can comply with their obligation to clearly inform people about the purpose of storing digitalised pictures of their fingerprints and what happens to the data in Eurodac.

FRA developed and published the leaflet jointly with the Eurodac Supervision Coordination Group.

National data protection authorities translated the leaflet. It is now available in most EU languages, Icelandic and Norwegian.
