FRA contributes to WHO expert meeting on violence against women

On 17 April, FRA gave a presentation on interviewer training methods based on the agency’s experiences of implementing large-scale data collection on violence against women. The presentation took place in an expert group meeting on interviewer training in violence against women surveys and modules, organised by the World Health Organization.

FRA participated in a plenary meeting of the Council of Europe’s Consultation Group on the Children of Ukraine in Strasbourg from 14 to 16 April. Council of Europe member states, the European Commission, the UN Refugee Agency and representatives of civil society attended the meeting.

FRA addresses Finnish rule of law seminar

On 1 April, the FRA Director Sirpa Rautio took part in the Rule of Law Seminar in Helsinki, organised by the Finnish Ministry of Justice. The focus was on the Venice Commission’s recent opinion on proposed amendments to the Constitution of Finland regarding the independence of the judiciary.

Mise en œuvre du pacte sur la migration et l’asile: enseignements tirés de l’approche des hotspots

Afin de soutenir la mise en œuvre prochaine du pacte sur la migration et l’asile, un nouveau rapport de l’Agence des droits fondamentaux de l’Union européenne (FRA) présente une sélection d’enseignements tirés de l’expérience acquise depuis dix ans par l’Agence dans les hotspots en Grèce et en Italie. Le rapport met en évidence les mesures nécessaires pour garantir que les procédures de filtrage, d’accueil et d’asile respectent les droits fondamentaux, protègent les personnes vulnérables et se déroulent en toute transparence.

Presenting the EU-gender-based violence survey results to Member States

The Permanent Representation of Spain to the EU in Brussels hosted an event on 26 March to discuss the latest EU data on gender-based violence. FRA gave a presentation summarising the results of the EU survey on gender-based violence and selected opinions based on FRA and EIGE’s analysis.

Les organisations de la société civile dans l’ensemble de l’Union européenne (UE) sont confrontées à une pression croissante qui compromet leur capacité à protéger les droits fondamentaux et à contribuer de manière significative à la vie démocratique, souligne l’Agence des droits fondamentaux de l’Union européenne (FRA) dans sa dernière évaluation de l’espace civique. Ces conclusions sont publiées alors que l’UE entame la mise en œuvre de sa toute première stratégie en faveur de la société civile, qui vise à renforcer l’engagement de la société civile et à garantir un espace civique ouvert et sûr dans l’ensemble de l’Union européenne.
