FRA provided fundamental rights input at two recent European Migration Network expert meetings. Both took place on 21 May in Brussels.
FRA’s Scientific Committee held its 69th meeting, where members discussed several key priorities. These included the development of the Single Programming Document for 2026–2028, the Agency’s overall strategy, FRA’s activities marking the 25th anniversary of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights FRA’s or the agency’s submission to the European Commission’s Rule of Law Report.
FRA has submitted a contribution to the call for evidence of the European Commission for the European affordable housing plan. President von der Leyen announced in the Political Guidelines 2024-2029 that the new European Commission will put forward the first-ever European Affordable Housing Plan.
On 4 June, FRA took part in a workshop held as part of the European Commission’s public consultation on protection of minors guidelines under Article 28 of the Digital Services Act (DSA).
FRA will speak at a webinar on civic space and civic participation, that will kick off European Pro Bono Week 2025, a Europe-wide celebration of the work of pro bono lawyers who support civil society, advance access to justice, and promote the rule of law.
FRA will join Equinet’s conference on 25 years of equality looking at milestones, challenges and horizons.

FRA will participate in the EU Roma Management Committee meeting organised by Fundacion Secretariado Gitano. FRA will provide an update on the recent Roma survey 2024.
On 8 May in Rome, FRA attended a conference analysing the methodology used in European countries to collect data on the presence of Roma communities.
FRA joined an expert meeting of the Council of Europe’s Commissioner for Human Rights on AI and human rights on 27 and 28 May in Paris.
On 12 June, FRA will take part in a conference in Madrid on the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights 25 years after the Charter’s proclamation. The event will also deal with the challenging context of increased polarisation in society.
In the upcoming financial mechanism period of the EEA/Norway Grants, FRA will perform the role of International Partner Organisation on Roma inclusion in Slovakia.
FRA will speak at a webinar on 6 June on ‘Governance and Participation – Policies That Make a Difference’. The webinar is part of the EU-funded project, B.RIGHT SPACES – Better Rights in Better Civic Spaces.
FRA will join a meeting of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers as a panellist at their first informal meeting dedicated to the topic of dismantling Gender Norms: A discussion on Harmful Gender Stereotypes.

The report on the overview of the cooperation between FRA and the Council of Europe in 2024 is available on FRA’s website. It provides an overview of activities between the two organisations, as well as how FRA and the Council of Europe support each other’s work in strengthening fundamental rights and the rule of law across the EU.
On 27 May, FRA provided online training on fundamental rights when using biometrics at an event organised by Frontex. The event focused on vulnerabilities in automated border crossings at Lisbon airport.

FRA spoke during the EU Asylum Agency’s (EUAA) fourth High-Level Roundtable on developments in judicial dialogue in the field of international protection. It looked at case law from the Court of Justice of the EU, the European Court of Human Rights and national courts.
On 19 May, attended a conference on new challenges associated with the development of AI and e-communication in the field of justice. FRA will publish a report providing guidance on digitalisation of justice in the autumn.
FRA spoke about remembrance and democracy in a changing Europe during the first international event of the FREI – From Resistance to European Integration project.
Menaces pour la démocratie, niveaux élevés de violence à l’encontre des femmes et violations des droits aux frontières de l’UE - tels sont quelques-uns des principaux défis qui ressortent du rapport 2025 sur les droits fondamentaux de l’Agence des droits fondamentaux de l’Union européenne (FRA). Le rapport fournit des preuves accablantes de la menace qui pèse sur les droits fondamentaux à travers l’ensemble de l’Europe. Cela doit servir de signal d’alarme pour les États membres et les institutions de l’UE afin de prévenir l’érosion des droits et d’enrayer le recul démocratique.
L’Agence des droits fondamentaux de l’Union européenne (FRA) a soumis deux contributions à la Commission européenne dans le cadre de la consultation relative au prochain budget à long terme de l’UE. Dans ses observations, la FRA insiste sur la nécessité de renforcer les garanties afin que tous les financements de l’UE respectent les droits fondamentaux et les valeurs fondatrices de l’UE. Elle souligne également l’importance de prendre des mesures pour remédier au rétrécissement de l’espace et du financement des organisations de la société civile (OSC) qui œuvrent en faveur des droits fondamentaux, de la démocratie et de l’État de droit.
